Spring 2012 Is In Full Swing

Recently I arrived at a decision to reduce the size of the garden in the front yard.  My existing garden meanders around all four sides of the house.  For a few years now I've been having trouble maintaining everything to my standards.  I started the garden as a source of relaxation and enjoyment.  Lately I feel like all my spare time must be devoted to it and I don't like that feeling.  I'm currently in the process of removing and reshuffling plants.  Two friends have already left with truckloads of fairly choice shade plants.  Another friend is taking a couple of the larger shrubs.  Last weekend I reset the new front bedline.  Phase two will be to remove the rest of the plants and reset the back bedline.  Phase three will be installing new lawn.  Not that I have any immediate plans to do so but I'm also hoping that when the time comes to sell my house I'll have the garden reduced to a size that will not scare away the average buyer.  At this point any normal person would run screaming for the hills.

When I think of all the time I spent removing grass to initially design the front garden I have to chuckle at the new turn of events.  By most people's standards I still have a large front garden.  By most people's standards I will probably always have a large front garden.  When the time comes to sell I may just have to turn my back and hire someone to pull everything out and plant grass as I doubt I'll be able to accomplish that particular task myself.  In the meantime I'll just edit here and there and hope for the best.

  2. You caught me, Kathy! It's probably not really ready for prime time. In a moment of weakness I decided to try this. Just one more thing I can't keep up with...lol. You're going to laugh...I bookmarked yours but not on the Home page so everytime I checked it just showed your last post being after the Buffalo Garden Walk. Imagine my surprise when I went to book mark it today! Sheesh!
