Guests at the resort have access to the garden in the early morning and until sunset-long before and after the general public. Spacious rooms were equipped with a gas fireplace and fridge. All had small patios overlooking gardens (perfect for in-room happy hours). Even the parking lots were surrounded by gardens. Rates were surprisingly reasonable. All-in-all it was a sweet deal.

A way better than average continental breakfast was included with the room and served in the view drenched dining room. |

I have a thing for signs that state the obvious. And yes, I know they exist because people can be litigious idiots. |
On the first night we enjoyed dinner at the resort restaurant and toasted all of our friends who weren't able to join us this year. Cheers! |
How wonderful! Absolutely love the vist in the third photograph. Fantastic sky as well....
ReplyDeleteYou'll be keeping us entertained for weeks with the documentation of this trip! Great coverage and photos! And I see my motivation to keep pruning the Hakura Nishiki willow to make it fat and full. In front of it -- is that the Salsa echinacea you were trying to find a spot for in your garden?

DeleteThe border at the visitor center ain't bad! LOL!
ReplyDeleteIt's been 6 years since I've visited the Oregon Garden, obviously I need to go back!
ReplyDeleteWow -- one has to wonder was it the chicken or the egg that started this whole gig? Did someone decide to add the gardens to the hotel or vice versa? Of course, one couldnt tell from how well it all melds together - talk about a destination getaway..... Simply amazing. Thanks for all the different photo perspectives too, Sue. - Cindy H.
ReplyDeleteIn case they didn't give you guys any history I'm going to jump in and say the garden came first, it was a joint effort of many Oregon nurseries. It then saw many tough years and later was sold to the current owner who had the vision to build the hotel and make it a destination. At least that's what we locals have been told. Sue I hope you don't mind my hijacking your blog...I won't make it a habit I promise!
DeleteNo problem, Loree! No, they didn't give us any history of how the hotel came to be but we didn't ask either. Both the gardens and the property seem to be reasonably well maintained.
